About the project:
The family who bought this property fell in love with its charm and external look but couldn’t get on with the internal layout. Multiple staircases between floors and lots of small rooms didn’t work with their expanding young family so the brief was set to extend in the form of the loft extension and new garage and convert the damp unused basement area into habitable family space.
The basement was opened up into a huge entertaining space, the additional space made into a further en-suite bedroom and cinema room.
The ground floor was opened up into a huge family kitchen/lounge/kids room with pantry, office and WC.
The first floor was amended into 2 kids rooms and large master suite with an addition family bathroom and kids den above the garage.
The second floor was extended with an additional dormer and comprises two spare bedroom and another bathroom.
All floor were complimented by a new bespoke oak staircase running from the entrance lobby to the top floor giving the clients the flow within the house they set out to achieve.
The garden was another challenge all of its own. The house is situated in close proximity to a flood plain and there is a natural spring on site so upgraded drainage was critical. Land drains were installed, the area completely levelled and landscaped with a huge Indian sandstone patio, bespoke pergolas and seating area.
